Be an Incredible Friend
I’m so thankful for my friends. Like my family, they’re a source of strength and my rock when times get tough. But when the busy-ness of life creeps in, it’s all too easy to put connecting with friends at the bottom of the to-do list.
Today let’s focus on and celebrate our friendships. Our goal is to reach out proactively to at least three friends, and tell them we’re thinking of them and how much we appreciate them. Expect nothing in return, just look for ways to make their day with an encouraging word, a silly joke, or a friendly smile. (You know how that works, right? As we focus on blessing others, even when do it completely selflessly, we end up blessed and feeling great ourselves!)
Our friends can include those that we’re fortunate to call true friends—they’re there when we need them to be, easy to talk to, and we somehow click with them more than with others. Don’t have any of those, or would like a few more? Then put yourself out there today, take the initiative, and find someone to encourage, commiserate, or laugh with.
How about those people we don’t know as well? Or those we know are struggling—a single mom trying to keep her head above water, a co-worker striving to achieve challenging goals, a boss or manager who’s tired from their day-to-day responsibilities, a volunteer or leader at church who gives and gives and gives of their time and self. We may not know these people as well as our close friends, but maybe we should get to know them better—or at least let them know how much they’re appreciated. (Relatives can fall into the friendship group too…)
Below are some friendship quotes…maybe they’ll bring someone to mind who’s been there for you or who you can be there for today. Pass them along and/or find another little something to make your friends smile:
